There are many opportunities to get involved as a student in Atmospheric Sciences. The Department of Atmospheric Sciences hosts an annual conference named the Midwest Student Conference on Atmospheric Science (MSCAR) every year to showcase undergraduate and graduate research across schools in the Midwest. The inaugural conference was held in October, 2017 with the help of a graduate, faculty, and undergraduate planning committee.

The Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (SCAMS) is the undergraduate registered student organization (RSO) located on campus. The main goal of this organization is to bring together weather enthusiasts to participate in fun socials, outreach, education, and academic related events.

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences Student Organizations (DASSO) is the graduate and faculty level organization here at the U of I. Some events that DASSO hosts include monthly lunches, Secret Santa gift exchange, an easter egg hunt, and much more!
