Department of Atmospheric Sciences Faculty Undergraduate Scholarship Fund (Fund #338489)

This scholarship, in the amount of $2000, is awarded to a rising sophomore in the Atmospheric Sciences program who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance as freshmen.

Atmospheric Sciences Study Abroad Program Fund (Fund #337255)

Annually, our undergraduates participate in study abroad programs, most recently at universities in England, New Zealand, and Austria. The awards, normally in the amount of $1000-$2000, help defray the costs of travel to the host country.

Atmospheric Sciences Alumni Scholarship Fund (Fund #339237)

Pending sufficient funds, these scholarships, each in the amount of $2000, are awarded to rising juniors in the Atmospheric Sciences program who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance, early research achievements, and/or an outstanding record of service to the community.

Atmospheric Sciences Field Studies of Convection Class Experience Fund (Fund #336830)

Every summer, Atmospheric Science undergraduates have the opportunity to take ATMS 324, Field Studies of Convection, a 12-14 day field experience where students learn to forecast and recognize the structural features characteristic of supercellular convection, organized mesoscale convective systems, frontal squall lines, and other thunderstorms, and relate these structures to theory and conceptual models. Donations to this fund help defray the cost of the trip.  Individual awards to students are normally in the amount of $500, about half the cost of the trip excluding meals.

This fund provides general support of the department, and allows the departmental leadership the flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most.
